The first cohort of the Family Empowerment & Lived Experience Integration Academy (FELEIA) – a new program designed to elevate family voice and strengthen collaboration in the child welfare system – recently held its inaugural graduation ceremony, recognizing a group of 12 participants who completed the leadership development course.

John Borek is a faculty lecturer in the National Security Intelligence Analysis (NSIA) master’s program, and Seth Marcotte is a recent NSIA graduate. Together, they were published in the International Journal of Intelligence and CounterIntelligence.

When Dan and Cherish Dempsey enrolled in college in 2018, they were already living a life defined by service and sacrifice. Both were serving on active duty in the U.S. Air Force — Dan as a master sergeant and Cherish as a technical sergeant — while raising their daughter, Kayla, in Colorado Springs. By 2020, both transitioned into the U.S. Space Force. Pursuing higher education during those times and amid those demands might have seemed a challenge, but for the Dempseys, the online programs at Granite State College (now the ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ College of Professional Studies) provided the right fit at the right time.
