Over 50 years ago, the University System of New Hampshire embraced a powerful goal: no matter where you live, no matter your age or income, if you鈥檙e motivated to pursue a college education, you should have access to it. In our earlier days as College for Lifelong Learning, we featured evening and weekend classes that fit the schedules of working adults. After completing UNH鈥檚 Reading and Writing Specialist program, Burd developed a project focused on helping secondary educators integrate structured literacy practices into all content areas. Drawing from her classroom experience, graduate studies, and mentorship from faculty member Chris Tate, Burd aims to bridge the gap between adolescent literacy needs and teacher support.
