This minor enables students to focus on issues and methods associated with providing counseling to individuals in distress. Students will study the personal and situational factors that can cause individuals to seek counseling. Students will also gain knowledge of the methods associated with communicating with individuals in distress to help them to solve problems.

The Minor in Counseling Foundations can serve as a supplemental course of study to your major, providing you with a solid foundation in the methods and theories applied in a counseling setting.
Curriculum & Requirements
All minor courses must be completed with a minimum grade of C-, and a 2.0 grade point average must be maintained in courses for the minor. Two courses must be at the upper level (600 or 700). Only 8 credits may overlap between major and minor.
